Full Moon Tomorrow

Tomorrow is the first full moon of the year and I'm planning a small ritual to mark it and help get back into following the natural rhythms of nature.

I have my altar mostly set up - I'll post some pictures tomorrow. I cleaned up the room a bit over the weekend getting it ready. I am planning to do the ritual before I go to bed tomorrow since I can see the moon from my altar room (hopefully it won't be overcast!) and set some items out to charge by it's light.

I have a silver gazing ball in a crystal vase I've used for many years to represent the moon on my altar. It sits on my window sill in my altar room now. I used to cover it during the new moon but haven't done that in a long time - mainly just because I haven't been in touch with the moon cycles in a while.  I used to always know when the full moon was coming as my monthly cycle was nearly always in sync with it. But since going thru menopause and no longer having a period for the last 2 years, I usually have no idea when the full moon is.

I would love to hear how you celebrate the phases of the moon. Do you honor each phase, just the full moon, or none at all? What ritual or objects do you set aside for the occasion?

My Horoscope for 2014

I did my tarot reading for the year yesterday so thought I'd have a look at my horoscope just for the heck of it too (not real sure how much I believe in horoscopes, but liking this one!) Check yours here.

Pisces

2014 is the year of major transformation and rebirth, Pisces. You're about to undertake such a massive personal renovation project that your inner world will never quite look or feel the same. Of course, this will in turn revolutionize your outer world in the most fantastic ways imaginable. The first half of the year continues to celebrate romance and pleasure in a big and fabulous fashion. The overwhelming abundance of love that started crashing into your dreamy world last summer (my dog Zoey, perhaps? She's the only new love in my lfie) will continue to flourish straight through July. It's not a question of falling madly in love -- it's a question of why it seems to be a daily occurrence. The spell won't be broken until summer, so enjoy this incredible fantasy. Once summer comes you may have to choose and commit.

This lovely Jupiter influence has also been spectacular for your creative life, and will continue to be for the first half of the year. Consider this your second (or third or fourth) childhood as you're being reminded how much fun it is to play!

Perhaps the best news is that your work is about to totally take off this summer, Pisces. If you've been in a bit of an uninspired slump, mope no more! Lucky and generous Jupiter will be moving into your work zone to bring you more work opportunities than you can possibly handle. You'll have to choose carefully, or you may not sleep until 2015. This is also the year to strive for more balance in all life arenas -- especially with money. You're over owing anyone anything, and this is the year to start putting your creative talents into wiping out as much debt as possible (I already made this a goal for the year - interesting it is in my horoscope). You know how to manifest like nobody's business but often forget to put such magic into practice. Once you get a vision about something, it's only a matter of time before it becomes reality, Pisces.

Blessings for 2014

I cannot believe it is already 2014 - seems like 2000 and y2k was just yesterday!

I feel like I am getting back more and more to the authentic me. Though I haven't been doing rituals as I had hoped, I have been meditating every day for the past few months in the temple room I set up for myself (though not pretty yet, it's private and I don't have to worry about my cats and dogs knocking things over - they have learned not to try to sneak in when I close the door and wait patiently outside for me), and been doing almost daily tarot readings again too. I feel a lot more centered and focused than I have in a long while.

My next goal personally is to get an exercise routine going so I can improve my health this year. I don't care about the number on the scale, but have a lot more joint pain and general aches than ever before so time to lose some weight and more importantly, get in better shape. I have the elliptical in my office and am trying to use it every afternoon around 3 pm when the daily slumps start hitting. Not being super consistent on it yet but getting there. Spiritually, I want to take more time to practice and study - including rituals - and get my temple room prettified :) I have the plans, now just have to push myself to do them!

I also do want to post more here. I think it will help me maintain my focus on my studies. I picked up the 2014 Magical Almanac for myself and am keeping it on my desk so I can check each days entry- this was one of the first almanac's on Wicca I bought years ago and always enjoy reading it. Today, the New Moon happened at 6:14 am - how fitting for New Year's Day! The color of the day is yellow, moon sign Capricorn. Being in Florida, it is sometimes hard for me to see the seasonal changes - it is cool today, a whopping 72 degrees (I know, those of you in snow areas are jealous, but 72 is cool to me!) and I tend to miss Sabbats simply because I don't pay attention to what day it is sometimes!

The first full moon of the year is January 15, so I'm really going to try to do a small ritual for it. After I split from my ex in 2000 and got my own apartment, the first ritual I ever did was a full moon ritual and I remember how magical it felt. I had a large silver tray that I put on my altar to represent the moon and remember how the candlelight danced over it. Not sure where that tray is now, but perhaps I can recapture some of that feeling again. My temple room faces Southeast, so I can see the moon as it rises most of the year. Now to keep track of the days!
